Project Reflection
In this project, we combined everything together. The quiz was a template from Macromedia Flash. Unfortunately, it must be started on the first frame. That means overlapped with the introduction frame. The quiz was included a lot of action script. So it is very complicated and not easy to modify. In this way we combine the quiz and the introduction together.
The view of the moon in the simulation was not easy to make. It was separated into four groups of frames. Each group had their own mask. Some people would like to know how to make the shadow of the Earth. It was made by a black layer on top of the Earth image with 50% transparency.
I did not put the photo story in it because I did not take a full set of Lunar photos by my own camera and telescope. Hong Kong was always cloudy and dusty. So I got the phase photo from internet (http://www.americanfocus.com/index_redirected.html?total_solar_eclipse_middle_corona). But I put an interactive page and slider in it. This was what I learnt from Dr. Churchill. I think they were very good activities in computer educational application. Indeed the matching game are also interesting, it contain a lot of action script too.
We would like to make something special; therefore we made the rowing text, instead of still text. It would be great if it was rowed up with the Star Wars music as a background sound. But we haven’t got the copyright, so we haven’t made it. I hope I can create more interesting flash application in the further.
Course Reflection
Before this course, I have learnt Flash and action for several years. I can also make a little game by action script. But in this course I learnt how to do a presentation by flash and mange the information. I can also present the information by symbol and arrange their priorities order.
I am able to create a photo story now. I presented the photos to my friends by a photo album in the pass. But, it did not contain any movement in translation of the photos. Indeed, I found out that this photo story’s file was too big, when I put many photos and music in it. Furthermore it is not easy to be modified.
In the pass, I didn’t write or read any Blog. I thought Blog was wasting time. Only my nonsense students like to do that. But after this course, I changes my point of view. It is a good place to share my idea and study from other. I’ve got a lot of comments and advances from my fellows. But Blog writing was painful, because I have to keep putting things in it every week, in spate of this I learnt a lot of skill from the other’s Blog. People arrange the text, images and video in appropriate order.
Sometime the Blog’s server was down. It makes people crazy. I hope we can make a Blog in the HKU Cite’s server. Different Blog have different features. Like Edublog, it can change the hyperlink to become an image and flash application automatically. So, I’ll write a Blog for my students and ask them to write a Blog to hand in their homework in the future.
